Lord Mahavir promoted non-violence…


On Tuesday, 04 April 2023, Mahavir Jayanti is celebrated by the Jain community across the Globe to mark the birth anniversary of Lord Mahavir.

Lord Mahavir was the 24th Tirthankara and the last spiritual guru as well, which means saviour in the Jain religion.

According to the Hindu calendar, Mahavir Jayanti is observed on the 13th day of the month of April.

Similarly, According to the English calendar, the festival is celebrated in the months of March and April. This year, Mahavir Jayanti is observed on April 4.

Lord Mahavir promoted non-violence and taught the value of respect and love for all living beings. Based on these values, Lord Mahavir founded Jainism.

On Mahavir Jayanti, people carry an idol of Lord Mahavira on a chariot for a procession or Rath Yatra. Devotees chant devotional songs while the idol is given an Abhisheka (ceremonial bath).
