“Make A Conscious Effort To Incorporate Yoga In Your Daily Routine”

Her Body language and tonal inflections reveals her level of passion towards Yoga!

Srishti Kaushik, famously known as yogini Srishti is truly a gifted, intuitive healer and Expert Yoga teacher, 4 times National gold medallist, and International Yoga teacher. Times Magazine India had an interaction with Ms. Srishti related to her journey toward a healthy life.

During an interaction, it was questioned, How did you start your Yoga journey through which you changed the lives of several?

In a reply she said, I've been doing yoga for the past 12 years. I am a national gold medallist and an international yoga teacher.

The very first kick to my career was from AIMS Institute. From there my journey took a beautiful turn. I just instructed some of the doctors and patients over there and this workshop was my first workshop as a professional yoga teacher.

It was an Honour that I played for the Akhil Bhartiya Federation of India. I started teaching yoga 5 years ago. Earlier, I was in a restricted zone which included instructing my family members, friends and colleagues. During my Graduation, I enrolled myself in a one month certification course from the Morarji Desai Institute.

At what moment did you decide that you wanted to go deeper in this non ending process of learning and practice?

The day I got admission in Delhi University on the basis of sports quota I decided to go deeper that yoga can do wonders for me. Then I did my Diploma from Bhartiya Vidya Bhawan Delhi. After that I started my Part time job. Along with my job, I started searching for the yoga institutions in Gurgaon. Golden wings were added and I joined as a yoga instructor in an institute as well as in one gym. So, my life was on a balanced track.

But Due to a pandemic, the track got twisted and I lost my all-offline classes. I had only one support, that was a job but I lost that too in the first lockdown. After this many ups and downs I Didn’t lose hope and my online classes with just 2 students and again my hard work and dedication took me towards success. “Strength and growth come only through continuous effort,” and I proved it with my work. Now, there is a very big yoga family of mine.

According to yoga, is it more mental or physical practice?

Looking at today’s scenario I will say, BOTH. Nowadays, People are so much inclined towards physical practice. What about mental fatigue? In this fast and stressful life, mental relaxation is much required. If you want to rejuvenate yourself then meditation and pranayama is much along with your physical practice. So I will say meditation’s ratio should be higher than that of the physical one. Meditation and pranayama will balance your life. Strongness from inside and out will give you the most beautiful and healthy effects.

Your expertise is in which Yoga style?

I am on the journey of Healing. This transformative practice of yoga invites balance and clarity in life. This enhances flexibility of thinking, while releasing blockages held in the body. My goal towards Yoga is about uniting the body, mind and the spirit with the emphasis on harnessing the power of the mind. I rely on Hatha Yoga too. This form of yoga is the ancient form of yoga. All other forms are branches of this Yoga. Hatha yoga tends to be good for beginners because they're slower-moving.

In the first wave of Covid-19, Being a Yoga Expert, What was your first step for yourself and your family?

I asked people around me to not get stressed. Just stay strong and healthy so even if Covid hits, you will not get severe symptoms. At that time, Kadhas worked really well. Me and my family members took that on a regular basis. To avoid these severe effects of this deadly virus Nadi-Shodhan Pranayama and Ujjayi Pranayama. These pranayamas really increase the Blood cells count within a few days. So, we performed these two including Asanas which helped us to stay safe from the virus.

I was living alone in Gurgaon at that crucial time. I was completely safe and was living my healthy life. The key to stay stronger from inside is just Yoga. Mental fitness does not allow such viruses to attack you. Lastly, nutrition is also the core part, if you are not taking care of your nutrition, then whatever you are doing in yoga and meditation journey it will not work. These three are a powerful combination.

Once again, the wave is about to hit the nation. What Yoga package people should do to stay safe?

It is best to add diaphragmatic breathing in your daily routine. This practice can do miracles. Proper way to perform this is to Inhale and bring your stomach out, stomach towards inside while exhaling. Your package will include, Nadi shodhan pranayama, Sukhma Vyayama and basic work with meditation. Doing this daily for just 15 minutes will give your Body and soul a divine experience.

I would like to share one of the most miraculous effects of yoga, Last year I had a student whose saturation was 80-82 on casual days. So, his doctor told him that if covid hits you then you are not going to survive.

He joined my classes and my teaching pattern focuses on curing a patient's disease from the root. He practiced breathing exercises under my observation for 15 minutes of the day. His hard work and will to make him healthy raised his oxygen level 98 to 99 in just two weeks. I motivated him a lot along with the Yoga practice. “Make a conscious effort to incorporate yoga in your daily routine.”

After Covid, Patients suffer from many side effects including Hair fall and vision blurredness. How to overcome these post covid symptoms?

Starting with the Hair fall problem, High Nutritional products will cure this problem. Multivitamins and minerals will go best with this issue. Taping Oil on your crown area of the head regularly will definitely increase your hair growth. I suggest the practices to the students which I have already tested and tried. For me nothing is more important than their health. Practice yoga and meditation with full zeal and energy to fight with post covid symptoms. As your body is very weak, best is to start with Sukshm Vyayama, Nadi-shodhan Pranayama and when your body will gradually start healing go with the Pawan Mukt series. It is best basic practice for the body with weak immunity.

Moving on to your expertise, how should women save themselves from multiple Genital Disease?

Women are suffering from PCOD, PCOS, Thyroid, Low Fertility, Infertility, and Uterus Collapse due to the worst lifestyle in this fast-moving life. Nutritious food is the basic step to cure all these. Working on changing your lifestyle as suggested in my yoga videos on Instagram will make you free from all these diseases. I run a special program for females in which I explain the best healing process to get rid of symptoms and issues.

Start yoga very slowly. This is the ‘Mool Mantra’ to heal your body. Slower yoga practice also focuses on proper alignment and mental repose. The list of Asanas you should do is:-

Baddkon Aasana

Bhujang Aasana

Sukhma Vyayama

Ustrasana

Matsyasana

Butterfly Pose

These few practices regularly will stimulate your reproductive organs and oxygenate them while massaging the affected organs so that they can work with their highest potential. Although Yoga is not the cure for everything, you can easily manage all these symptoms with yoga. Yoga puts a full stop to all the questions arising towards the healing pathway. Don’t lift weight if suffering from PCOD and PCOS. Avoid exercises which include jumping and extra moments.

As, stress is increasing in Teenagers on a very larger scale. What should they add in their daily routine according to your Yoga knowledge?

In a reply she said, do not include kids below14 in Yoga as they are highly active. Enroll them in meditation to rejuvenate their entire body. Before 16, divert their energy in Reading books or in some Sports. As, In Yoga their energy will be utilised properly.

Teenagers should also get engaged with some sports but, for them yoga is a must to bring calmness in your body and to add flexibility. Especially for girls, they should do yoga from a very young age as the rate of anxiety, stress is more in them. Take proper care of your diet and lifestyle.
