Mamata Banerjee to meet PM Modi, to discuss MGNREGA

Also Scheduled to meet Madam President!

On Friday, Trinamool Congress chief and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who reached the national Capital Thursday, will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi today.

As per the information, congress chief will discuss multiple issues, including MGNREGA and GST dues for her state. Later in the day, she is also scheduled to meet President Droupadi Murmu.

Mamata's visit comes at a time when the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has been probing Partha Chatterjee, who was removed from all party posts last week following the recovery of a huge amount of cash and gold at his close aide Arpita Mukherjee's flats, over the alleged teacher's recruitment scam.

Mamata, who is on a four-day visit to Delhi, will attend a Niti Aayog meeting on August 7, which will be chaired by PM Modi, sources said. Banerjee had given the council's last year's meeting a miss. Also, with the TMC warming up to the Congress in Parliament, Banerjee might also meet party president Sonia Gandhi, who is being probed by the ED in a money-laundering case.

As the Bengal chief minister landed in Delhi on Thursday, BJP’s Dilip Ghosh alleged that Mamata Banerjee uses her meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to send out a message that “a setting has been made”. "The Centre should realise this and not fall for it," he added.

Rubbishing Ghosh's remarks, TMC's Sukhendu Sekhar Roy said, “Those are wild allegations our adversaries keep making.”
