Mamta Banerjee invites anti BJP leaders for a Joint Rally in Kolkata

Mamta Banerjee seeks support.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee sought support from anti Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) leaders to head a joint rally in Kolkata in January 2021. The formulated alliance will be similar to the one called as 'United India's Public Meeting' after the Lok Sabha elections of 2019. BJP is steadily tightening its grip all over India after the last elections. The Farmers' protest fluttering countrywide, is a major front of action for opposition who are planning to mediate in the tussle between protestors and centre.

As per the sources, TMC leader may approach National Congress Party (NCP) leader Sharad Pawar, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) leader MK Stalin among others to join hands and lead the rally. On Sunday, Banerjee showered her gratitude to four chief ministers and Stalin for backing West Bengal's stand on Centre's attempt to transfer IPS officers. The centre's intervention in State's functioning is not well taken in non BJP states or union territories.

Mamta Banerjee took to her twitter handle, thanking the supporters, "Centre is brazenly interfering with State Govt functioning by transferring police officers. My gratitude to @bhupeshbaghel (CM Bhupesh Baghel of Chattisgarh) @ArvindKejriwal (CM Arvind Kejriwal of Delhi), @capt_amarinder (CM Capt. Amarinder Singh of Punjab), @ashokgehlot51 (CM Ashok Gehlot of Rajasthan) & @mkstalin(DMK Party Leader) for showing solidarity to people of Bengal & reaffirming their commitment to federalism. Thank you!", she said in a tweet. The upcoming future may witness a powerful alliance between aforementioned parties to take over the centre.

Banerjee's government is locking horns with the centre after the Union Health Ministry's orders flew in to transfer three IPS officers on central deputation. The officers took charge of BJP National President JP Nadda's security cover last week, when his convoy was allegedly attacked by workers of Trinamool Congress near Kolkata. The events are occurring prior to Bengal's Legislative Assembly elections due for April-May 2021. TMC is quite afraid of reiteration of 2019 Lok Sabha elections' outcome where a tremendous rise in BJP's share of votes was seen, accounting for 21 out of 42 parliamentary seats.
