Man Apprehended for Rape of 12-Year-Old

Three Minors Also Detained in Connection with Assault…

In New Delhi, a 12-year-old girl was reportedly gang-raped by a man and three boys, with a woman enticing her to a secluded location in Sadar Bazaar, as per the police statement on Sunday.

All five suspects, including the three minors, have been apprehended.

According to the police, the woman involved was a customer at the man's tea stall in Sadar Bazaar, Old Delhi. Additionally, the three boys, aged 12, 14, and 15, were identified as workers at the same stall.

On January 1, the owner of the tea stall reportedly requested the woman, employed as a waste picker in the vicinity, to find a girl for a "New Year celebration."

The accused had set up a makeshift shelter using plastic tarpaulin inside a sealed building in the area for the night. Police suspect that the man may have offered the woman compensation for bringing the girl to them.

The following day, the woman encountered the 12-year-old girl, who was also a ragpicker; and purportedly instructed her to gather garbage from the roof of a building in Khurshid Market.

Upon the girl's arrival, the four accused were waiting for her. They proceeded to take turns raping her within the temporary structure. Subsequently, they issued threats, warning her of dire consequences if she disclosed the incident to anyone.

The girl returned to her residence in North West Delhi and remained silent for two days.

On January 5, while back in Sadar Bazaar for garbage picking, she disclosed the incident to her cousin, a resident of the area. The cousin informed her parents, and subsequently, the family approached the police.

A case of gang rape was swiftly registered, and all the accused were apprehended within hours after the survivor filed her complaint, as per the police statement.

The owner of the tea shop is a resident of Chhattisgarh, whereas the three boys employed at his shop come from Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.
