Man arrested for Killing his live-in partner

Man has been arrested so far…

On Friday, The Delhi Police crime branch arrested a man from Punjab for the murder of his live-in partner at their rented flat in Ganesh Nagar in Delhi.

The accused is identified as Manpreet, who had been living with Rekha Rani age 35 and her 16-year-old daughter for the past five years, police informed, adding that Rani was unemployed and relied on Manpreet for financial support.

According to the police, Rani's body was found in her flat on Friday with multiple stab wounds in her jaw, neck, and hand, while Manpreet was missing.

Investigating officers stated that they began to suspect Manpreet's involvement and that he was arrested from Punjab.

On Friday noon, the murder came to light after the Tilak Nagar police station received a call about a quarrel in a house that was locked from the outside.

A police team arrived at the scene and met a girl who said she couldn't find her mother and suspected the mother had been harmed by her mother's partner only, who was also missing.

The police team then broke open the main door and went inside. The body of Rani was found on the bed and there were stab wounds in her jaw, neck and hand. The body was shifted to a government hospital mortuary for autopsy.

A case of murder and destruction of evidence was registered against him and the woman’s live-in partner became our prime suspect," deputy commissioner of police (west) Ghanshyam Bansal said.

The crime branch has arrested Manpreet.

Manpreet has previously been involved in six cases, including kidnapping for ransom and attempts to murder as well.
