Protesting against sexual harassment of his daughter in Deoria, man beaten to death


The incident took place on Thursday evening when victims daughter came home complaining that a resident had sexually harassed her who lives barely twenty feet from their house. The man identified as 50-year old who was beaten to death for protesting against harassment of his daughter. The incident was reported at Ikauna police station area of the district, according to Shripati Mishra, SP of Deoria.

SP Mishra added further while explaining the sequence of events,“The victim reached the house and slapped the youth, however, the youth called his supporters and thrashed the victim with sticks before escaping.”

Later, victim was taken to Gorakhpur medical college from where he was referred to Lucknow SGPGI but died on the way to Lucknow late on Friday.

Two  accused have been arrested while police is still trying to trace six others. Total eight people have been booked under the charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder, Uttar Pradesh police said.

In a similar incident, a medical petitioner was beaten to death after her asked three teenage members of a family to stop harassing his daughter. The victim was identified as Indresh Parashar, whose relatives filed an FIR based on which three students of class 10, 11 and 12, who was returning home from his clinic, in Inchauli area of Meerut district. He died on the way to hospital due to internal bleeding, while accused are still in judicial custody.
