Man beaten up and leg broken over free chicken

Naveen Kumar a Nihang sect member attacks a man for refusing his demand for a free chicken, days after Singhu Border Lynching


On Thursday, a labourer Manoj Paswan who works at a poultry farm was assaulted by a Nihang sect member. The victim was passing through the protest site in his vehicle carrying hens when he was stopped by a man dressed in the attire of the Nihang Sikhs. The accused demanded a free chicken and on being refused he attacked the victim and fractured his leg at the Singhu border in Haryana’s Sonipat.

The attack was allegedly carried out by Nihang Sikhs suspects the police. A FIR has been lodged in the matter. The accused has been identified as Naveen Kumar, a resident of Karnal district in Haryana. This incident comes a few days after a mutilated body of a Dalit man, Lakhbir Singh was found at the Singhu border. He was from Punjab’s Tarn Taran and was allegedly killed by a group of Nihang Sikhs, Nirvair Khalsa-Udna Dal for committing sacrilege.

On Wednesday, the Punjab government formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the circumstances that led to the lynching of the Dalit man at Singhu Border last week. A thorough investigation to be carried out for the victim Lakhbir Singh belonged to Punjab and his family has demanded Justice for him. As per sources, the Director, Bureau of Investigation, Varinder Kumar will be heading the SIT. The SIT will probe alleged meetings between Nihang leaders and the union government, the officials said.

 

According to media reports, the Nihang leader Aman Singh had secretly met BJP leaders. The Punjab government suspects a conspiracy brewing behind the incident involving the Nihang group at the Singhu border. Baba Sarvjit Singh who surrendered to Sonipat Police for killing Lakhbir will be investigated by SIT.
