Man killed for objecting cousin’s advances towards his fiancé

Victim has been arrested; Police looking out for another accused

On Friday, a man named Harun was arrested for allegedly killing his cousin, Faiyaz who objected to his advances towards a girl with whom the victim’s marriage has been fixed said the police. Iraj Raja, the senior police officer of Ghaziabad said that Harun, the cousin of the victim Faiyaz of Lal Pur village in Hapur district has been arrested and with this the Masuri Police has been able to solve the blind murder case.

On October 30, Faiyaz’s body was found near a canal in a Masuri police station area and the police had to bury the body as that of an identified person after waiting for the mandatary period for someone to identify or claim it. The police had also uploaded the man’s face on several social media platforms which resulted in Faiyaz’s elder brother Nawab reaching the police station and identifying him.

Nawab informed the police that Faiyaz’s marriage had been fixed with his sister-in-law (wife’s sister) who had come to stay with him sometime back. Apparently during her stay, Harun had been liking her and started making advances towards her because of which Nawab and Faiyaz had broken their relation with Harun after giving him a proper warning. Nawab further told the police that his brother had left home on October 29 saying he was going to Noida to meet a friend but didn’t return. Following which a report was lodged with the Dankaur police station in Greater Noida.

The police then caught hold of Harun and during interrogation it was revealed that he had called Faiyaz to Noida and later after he left him, he was asked to come to a place under Masuri police station in Ghaziabad instead. Later, when Faiyaz reached Masuri, Harun and the maternal uncle’s son Sahil strangled him with a towel and dumped him body near the canal and fled. The police are on the lookout for another accused Sahil.
