Man linked with Ludhiana blast arrested in Germany

Multani was arrested by the Federal Police from Erfurt in central Germany

On Monday, Germany Police have arrested Jaswinder Singh Multani, main lead of the banned outfit Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), for his direct involvement in a Ludhiana court blast last week, and their next target locations were in Delhi and Mumbai, people said.

According to diplomats based in Bonn and New Delhi, Multani was arrested by the Federal Police from Erfurt in central Germany after the Indian government requested German authorities to arrest the pro-Khalistan radical Multani who has links to Pakistani, and has been involved in smuggling from across the border into Punjab.

An official said, earlier he was a resident of Hoshiarpur in Punjab, 45-year-old Multani is a close associate of SFJ founder Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, and is involved in separation activities.

On December 23, a bomb went off in the district courts complex in Ludhiana, killed one person and injured six others, triggering a high alert in the state.

The official said, Multani recently showed up on security agencies’ radar for arranging and sending weapons consignments comprising explosives, hand grenades and pistols from across the border with the help of Pakistan-based operatives.

He also said that Multani was planning to carry out terrorist activities in Punjab by using the smuggled consignments.

The arrest took place after the Modi ruled government intervened at the highest diplomatic levels with their German counterparts about Multani’s involvement in a conspiracy to target cities like Delhi and Mumbai.

Police said, on February 7, the Punjab Police arrested four people belonging to Tarn Taran, Amritsar and Ferozepur and recovered eight country made pistols.

The arrested people procured the illegal hands to carry out radical activities in Punjab.

Official quoted said, the police then arrested another man named Jeevan Singh, who was radicalised by Germany-based pro-Khalistan leader Multani on social media to target farmer leader Balbir Singh Rajewal.

Multani also sent funds to Jeevan Singh for arranging weapons for targeting Rajewal, who is the president of the Bharatiya Kisan Union-Rajewal(BKU).
