AAP is planning to stage a protest in Delhi…

New Delhi: On Monday, 27 February 2023, The Aam Aadmi Party announced nationwide protests over the arrest of Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia in the Delhi liquor policy case.

Thousands of Aam Aadmi Party workers and supporters are expected to gather outside the CBI headquarters, where Mr. Sisodia is being held.

The party is also planning to stage a protest outside the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Headquarters in the National Capital at around 12 pm today.

Aam Aadmi Party's national General Secretary Sandeep Pathak said that they will protest across the country today.

Delhi police have deployed forces in several parts of Delhi, including the CBI headquarters where Mr. Sisodia is being held.

Delhi's Deputy CM Manish Sisodia was arrested by the CBI in connection with the capital's now-scrapped liquor case, the case came into the spotlight once again.

The investigation relates to the now-withdrawn Delhi liquor sales policy introduced in the year 2021. Manish Sisodia is the head of Delhi's excise department.

Under this policy, in a departure from norms in most states, the government no longer sells liquor now. Only private shops are allowed to do so. The central aim was to stop black marketing, increase revenue and improve the consumer experience.
