Massive Fire Erupts in Secretariat Building In MP

The blaze has been brought under control…

On Saturday, 09 March 2024, a massive fire broke out on the third floor of the Vallabh Bhavan State Secretariat in Bhopal.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said that the blaze "has been brought under control now".

He said that the blaze broke out on the third floor of the building, "Based on the information received from the Collector, I told the CS to monitor it, that detailed information on the incident will be gathered, and I have also been told that the fire has been brought under control.

"We have issued orders to ensure that no such incident occurs again. I hope that no such incident occurs again," he added.

Indian Army personnel have also reached the State Secretariat to control the situation.

Meanwhile, a video on social media of the blaze shows thick, black smoke billowing out of the building.

Police personnel and fire engines can be seen at the scene, while operations are on to douse the massive flames.

The fire department personnel used a special foam chemical spray sent from the Bhopal Airport Fire Brigade to douse the flames.

There were no reports of casualties or injuries, with damage also yet to be checked.

This is the second fire case to erupt in a state government building in Bhopal since the Satpura Bhawan blaze in June last year.

In that incident, thousands of files and assets of the Madhya Pradesh government files were gutted.
