Mathematics Day Remembering- The Man who knew infinity

Mathematics Day being celebrated

On 22nd December every year we celebrate Mathematics Day, this day was  announced by former Prime Minister Man Mohan Singh. This day celebrates the essence of mathematics in our lives, giving tribute to legendary mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan Aiyangar

Ramanujan belonged to a lower middle class family and never had a proper resource to get formal training in mathematics. Despite that, he managed to make priceless contributions in the field. He gave infinite series, continued fractions, number theory and mathematical analysis. He also made notable contributions like the hypergeometric series, the Riemann series, the elliptic integrals, the theory of divergent series, and the functional equations of the zeta function.

He didn’t live his full life due to his chronic illness and died at the age of 32 but was worldwide recognized through his work. Even in his last days he wrote 3 books consisting of results, unsolved one’s till date no one knows why he wrote the results without their proofs. But with the advancement in research areas every researcher has their eye on his work and are trying to prove his theories.

He saw life as mathematics, his vision was maths. Even in his adverse state, he made priceless discoveries. Recently his equation played a very significant role in understanding black holes, even proving its existence. This man- linked maths with the mere waves that surround us.

Maths is mankind's greatest invention to understand nature and it has managed to place itself in every single particle, from quantum to atom everything is maths.

The day is about remembering the essence of life through mathematics. To maintain the legacy of our great mathematician alive. To provide the proper training to those who could never see how beautiful their minds are and providing them the right path so that they could solve the world's problems.
