Maximum Temperature rises to 45 degrees Celsius in Gujarat

Heatwave to spell over northern parts of Gujarat till April 10!


On Thursday, as heatwave conditions continue to grip northern parts of Gujarat, the Kandla airport in the Kutch district registered the maximum temperature of 45 degrees Celsius, said the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).

The maximum temperature crossed the 40 degrees Celsius mark at several locations, including Surendranagar (44.4 degrees Celsius), Bhuj (43.4), Keshod (43.7), Amreli (43.4), Deesa (43.4), Ahmedabad (43.2), Rajkot (43.1) and Gandhinagar (43).

As per the weather prediction by the MeT officials, heatwave conditions would prevail in different parts of the state till April 11 including Kutch, Banaskantha, Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, Patan, Porbandar, Rajkot, Surendranagar and Amreli.

Citing no respite from the heatwave conditions in the days ahead, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said, "Heat wave spell is likely to continue over Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, south Punjab, south Haryana-Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand during the next 5 days and over northern parts of Gujarat during the next 3 days."

On Thursday, Delhi witnessed heat wave conditions with the maximum temperature reaching 40 degrees Celsius, according to the weather department.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said the minimum temperature in Delhi recorded was at 19.4 degrees Celsius, normal for this time of the season.

The weather office said that days will get warmer over the next few days.

Yesterday the relative humidity at 8:30 am was 39 per cent.

Delhi's Air Quality remained in the "poor" category as the air quality index stood at 271 at 8 am, Central Pollution Control Board data showed.

An AQI between zero and 50 is considered "good", 51 and 100 "satisfactory", 101 and 200 "moderate", 201 and 300 "poor", 301 and 400 "very poor", and 401 and 500 "severe".
