In MCD with 250 wards, AAP won 134 while BJP won 104, Congress 9 and others 3. The 134 seats AAP won, and 77 were wrested from BJP. These wards of 77 seats were ranges from rural and outer areas in Delhi such as Civil Lines, RK Puram and Hauz khas.

Earlier this year, this was the first election after the MCD was reunified. On December 4, the polls which took place saw a voter turnout of only 50.48% — just over 73 lakh people from the total of 1.45 crore eligible voters. While AAP managed to significantly increase its vote share as compared to the 2017 MCD elections, so did the BJP despite cornering fewer seats this time.

The highest voter percentage wards has won by the Aam Aadmi Party which was in only three out of the ten wards. In fact, voters in three out of the 10 wards voted the AAP out of seats they had won in 2017, all of which are areas which were hit by the 2020 riots.

While Delhi’s average voter turnout was 50% on polling day, there were ten wards which had a voter turnout above 60%. In Northeast Delhi, most of these wards are either in rural pockets or in densely populated.
