Mehbooba Mufti allegedly detained again

Mehbooba Mufti of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on November 27 declared that she has been illegally detained by the Jammu Kashmir administration as they restricted her from visiting a youth wing of President Waheed Rehman Para family in Pulwama. Mufti also said that her daughter Itija has been put under ‘house arrest’ because she too wanted to visit.

In a series of tweets this morning Ms Mufti said “I’ve been illegally detained yet again. Since two days J&K admin has refused to allow me to visit @parawahid’s family in Pulwama. BJP ministers and their puppets are allowed to move around in every corner of Kashmir but security is a problem only in my case”.

The President of the youth wing of the PDP Waheed Rehman Para on Wednesday was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in a terror related case. During the probe into the case of DSP Davindra Singh who was arrested earlier while escorting two Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists into a vehicle on Srinagar-Jammu highway, Parra’s name had surfaced then.

Mufti said, Waheed has been arrested on baseless charges adding that the J&K administrations ‘cruelty knows no bounds’. The daughter of the PDP leader was also arrested and put under house arrest because she too wanted to visit Parra’s family.

Mehbooba Mufti intends to hold a press conference this afternoon. Among the many political leaders detained last year she was one of them, when the Union Government scrapped the J&K’s special status under Article 370 and divided it into two union territories, J&K and Ladakh. She was later released in October that year.
