Melania Trump bids farewell to America as US First Lady

Melania Trump addressed the "fellow Americans" in her 6:53 minute long video farewell speech.


US First Lady Melania Trump delivered a farewell message to "fellow Americans" in a 6:53 minute long video. The First Lady said that it "has been the greatest honor of my life to serve as First Lady of the United States." She did not directly speak about the US Capitol siege but hinted at the violent attack by saying, "Be passionate in everything you do but always remember that violence is never the answer and will never be justified."

Melania Trump thanked the soldiers, military families, 'members of law enforcement' for playing their part and providing service to the nation. She mentioned how the children in hospitals and foster care centers and mothers who have "overcome incredible hardships for love of their children" have inspired her. Referring to COVID-19 pandemic, she thanked "the nurses, doctors, healthcare professionals, manufacturing workers, truck drivers, and so many others who are working to save lives." She also condoled the families who lost their loved ones due to the pandemic.

Melania Trump emphasized on the values and good habits people need to inculcate in themselves. She addressed the nation and said, "The promise of this Nation belongs to all of us. Do not lose sight of your integrity and values. Use every opportunity to show consideration for another person and build good habits into your daily lives." Unlike her husband, outgoing President Donald Trump, she gave a message of unity, love and peace."To focus on what unites us. To rise above what divides us.
