MLAs to raise awareness for "Red light on, Gaddi off" campaign

Delhi MLA's will start an awareness campaign for increasing pollution level. Also, asking people to contribute!


The national capital is witnessing a rise in pollution levels. Whereas on  October 21,(Thursday) Delhi MLAs will raise awareness to minimise the pollution level in the capital city. 


 

According to the statement given by the Delhi Environment Minister, Gopal Rai said, "On October 21 (Thursday) all the MLAs of Delhi will raise awareness about the Red light on, Gaddi off campaign near Chandgi Ram Akhara on Ring road. They will appeal to people to contribute to the campaign. I request the people of Delhi to strengthen our fight against pollution." Adding more the Minister said, "I call upon the two crore people of Delhi. This entire campaign is on your shoulders. We are confident  that the way we are running the anti-dust campaign in Delhi, we will also see success with this campaign".


 

Whereas, On Monday the Red light on, Gaddi off campaign was implemented in the Capital city. This campaign will be continued for a month till November 18 in the city. For this awareness around 2,500 civil defence volunteers will be deployed in two shifts starting from 8 am to 2 pm and another from 2 pm to 8 pm across 100 traffic junctions in the city. 


The pollution level in the country is gradually increasing. With the arrival of the winter season and the upcoming Diwali festival, the city witnesses a suffocating environment.  Whereas the Delhi Government is running several awareness programmes, campaigns to control the pollution level. Meanwhile, smog towers are also installed in two places at Cannaught place and Anand vihar which comes under the hub of the city.
