Moderate rainfall in Mumbai, suburbs in next 24 hours: IMD

Met Department has issued an orange alert for Thane in Mumbai city on Tuesday whereas a yellow alert has been issued in Palghar for Wednesday.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday predicted moderate rain in Mumbai suburbs in the next 24 hours due to a low-pressure area over western parts of Maharashtra's Vidarbha at isolated places.

As per the statement given by the Met Department, it has issued an orange alert for Thane in Mumbai city on Tuesday whereas a yellow alert has been issued in Palghar for Wednesday.

The IMD tweeted, "Moderate rainfall measuring 3cm reported over Mumbai (Santacruz) during 0230- 0530 hrs IST of today. As the low-pressure area now lies over western parts of Vidarbha, rainfall activity over Mumbai and its suburbs would continue during the next 24 hours leading to moderate rain at most places with heavy to very heavy rainfall (<15cm) at isolated places."

Meanwhile, heavy rains lashed the national capital, which resulted in waterlogging and overflow of water in the city leading to disturbed traffic in few areas of the city. Meanwhile, IMD also predicted rainfall till tomorrow in the capital city.
