Transport corporation is suffering loss


The Maharashtra state road transport corporation (MSRTC) is suffering a loss worth rupees 126.49 crores. The MSRTC strike has been going on for the last week. The strike began on October 27, later was called off. Again it was continued after impacting bus operations in the state.


The reason behind the strike was the delay in salaries of the employees and the deaths of the employees by suicide.  The unions have demanded a salary increase, the merger of MSRTC with the Maharashtra government, an increase in dearness and house rent allowances. Around 30 employees have been died by suicide by owning to the financial crisis caused due to delays in salaries. 


As per an official, "96,000 employees unable to operate buses in Maharashtra,  the organisation is suffering a daily average loss between  rupees 10 crore and rupees 25 crores". Adding more it said, "between October 27 and November 10 the period the employees have been on strike -MSRTC has suffered a loss of rupees 111. 49 crore". Whereas on Thursday MSRTC alone suffered a loss of rupees 15 crores. 


According to the statement given by transport minister Anil Parab, several employees want to return to work and they would be protected by the government.  Adding more he said, efforts are being made soon in the entire state to ease commuters' hassles.
