Muharram 2023

PM Modi pays tribute to Imam Hussain…

On Saturday, 29 July 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tributes to Imam Hussain.

He said his courage and commitment to justice and human dignity are remarkable.

Muslims across the globe, especially Shias, commemorate the death of Imam Hussain on the day of Muharram in the battle of Karbala.

It is known as "Ashura". It is the 10th day of the Islamic month of Muharram.

"We remember the sacrifices made by Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS).

His courage and commitment to the ideals of justice and human dignity are noteworthy," PM Modi said on Twitter.

This day holds special importance as it commemorates the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain, Prophet Muhammad's grandson, in the Battle of Karbala. He was brutally killed this month, even when fighting was forbidden.

It is also said that Prophet Ibrahim was born on the 10th day of the month of Muharram.

The annual commemoration of Ashura, the 10th day of the Islamic month of Muharram, is a time for Muslims to reflect on the teachings of Imam Hussain and the values he stood for.

It is a time of mourning and an occasion for renewing the commitment to the principles of justice, compassion, and human dignity that Imam Hussain sacrificed his life.
