Mumbai police imposed high alert on December 31. New year will be celebrate at home gathering of people, friends, relatives will be prohibited due to Covid pandemic


Today Mumbai Police has taken a initiative towards Mumbai citizens' safety and has strictly prohibited big gatherings and parties on the occasion of New Year 2020 as a precautionary measure against coronavirus pandemic. Restriction have been imposed to check Covid infections and police will be on red alert on December 31 night to seek out violators. Mumbai Police DCP alleged that, "Every year huge public gathering takes place in Mumbai for celebrations on New Year, however, this year it won't be possible due to Covid-19 restrictions.” said S Chaitanya.

He also added in his statement that “First, no party is allowed at all this year in Mumbai. No party at rooftop, terrace, bars and restaurants, beaches, etc no party at all this year,” Explaining all the restrictions and other guidelines in detail for the new year, DCP Chaitanya stated that time of night curfew imposed from 11 pm to 6 am next morning will be in place because of pandemic. The purpose of impose high alert on December 31, is to prevent a rise in Covid infections. 

S Chaitanya also stated that regarding restrictions “We have additionally imposed Section 144 where not more than 4 people can gather at one place. However, after 11 pm, people can roam in their cars with not more than 4 people. In one vehicle, only 4 people are allowed. People working in the essential services can move without any restrictions,” .
