Mumbai: Students under 18 years can travel via local train from today

For this, students will have to provide their Aadhar and school identity card to railway officials.

The Maharashtra government on Wednesday issued an order stating the students under the age of 18 years, who are not eligible for vaccination can now travel via Mumbai local train.

This decision came as a relief for school going kids, who used to travel far for their classes. However, students will have to provide their Aadhar and school identity card to the railway officials for the verification process.

Covid-19 cases had led to the closure of schools, colleges and educational institutions whereas Mumbai city was an epicentre during the deadly second wave of Covid-19 pandemic.

Meanwhile, Mumbai is gradually reopening. The school and other educational classes in the city are also reopening for physical sessions for classes 5 to 12.  Mumbai local trains also resumed their services in August for the fully vaccinated travelers.
