Mumbai to face 15% water cut on 26 and 27 October

BMC has appealed to all citizens to cooperate by storing sufficient water stock in their houses


Mumbai’s water supply to be affected for 24hours on 26th and 27th October. As per officials, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Cooperation (BMC) is scheduled to do some repair work. The work will be done at the water pumping stations of Bhandup Complex and Pise Panjrapur. 15% water cut estimated from 10am, Oct 26 to 10 am, Oct 27 in the city and its suburbs till the maintenance work is over.

The Civic body has planned to do some repairing and replacement of two 1200mm diameter sluice valves at the 1910 MLD water pumping station at Bhandup Complex. And replacement of stage III pump set at Pise Panjrapur Complex. Some repairing of leakages on 1800mm diameter water mains as well as leakages at Powai.

The areas to be affected with no water supply are South, K/East which includes Prakash wadi, Ramkrishna Mandir Road, Bagarka Road, Kanti Nagar, Chakala. In G/North ward, Dharavi Main Road, Ganesh Temple Road and the Bandra Terminal area in H/East ward. Thereby, the BMC has requested all citizens to cooperate with them and store sufficient water in their houses for the mentioned time period till the work is done.

 

In 2018, Brihanmumbai Municipal Cooperation (BMC) decided to reduced water supply Quantum by 10% and duration by 15% till the next monsoon season in 2019. BMC took this decision after it was found that the water stock was 15% lower compared to the previous year. Even before that water cut of 25% was imposed in the year 2015 by 15% and by 20% in 2014 while 20-30% in 2009.
