Mundra Drug Case: DRI seizes 37 kg drugs in Delhi, Noida

Eight persons including five foreign nationals, that is, four Afghans and one Uzbek national, have been arrested in connection with the case.


The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) on Wednesday seized 37 kgs of drugs from Delhi and Noida in connection with the seizure of around 3,000 kgs of heroin at Mundra port in Gujarat. Eight persons including five foreign nationals, that is, four Afghans and one Uzbek national, have been arrested in connection with the case.

The drug seized earlier was worth Rs 21,000 crore in the international markets. According to a release of the Press Information Bureau, the heroin was concealed in jumbo bags and was layered with talc stones on top, reported NDTV. Reportedly, it was seized at the Mundra port which is run by Adani Group.

According to the release, immediate follow-up operations were carried out in several places such as, New Delhi, Noida (Uttar Pradesh), Chennai, Coimbatore, Ahmedabad, Mandvi, Gandhidham, and Vijaywada which led to recovery of 16.1 kgs of heroin from a godown in Delhi, 10.2 kgs of powder suspected to be cocaine and 11 kgs of substance suspected to be heroin from a residential place in Noida.
