Deputy Secretary (Home) Krishna Mohan Uppu has written a letter to the Chief Secretaries of these four states and the Director General of Assam Rifles to alert all security and intelligence agencies to identify illegal migrants and return them immediately, an official said. In a letter written on March 10, Uppu says that the foreign branch of the ministry had also issued instructions to the chief secretaries on February 28 in which security and intelligence agencies had to identify illegal migrants, ban them at certain places according to legal regulations He was asked to initiate legal proceedings, including obtaining biographic and biometric data, falsifying and repatriating fake Indian documents.
