National Capital witnesses 100 cases of dengue so far in October

In September around 217 cases were registered, which was the highest for the same month in the last three years, as per the government data.


Amid cases of Covid-19, the national capital is also witnessing an increase in the cases of dengue. Whereas several plans and programmes have been implemented by the Delhi Government to control the spread.

According to the report by the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC), more than 100 cases of dengue have been reported in the city so far in this month (October). In September around 217 cases were registered, which was the highest for the same month in the last three years, as per the government data.

Dengue is caused by four closely related viruses named DENV- 1, DENV -2, DENV-3 and DENV - 4. These four viruses are called serotypes because each has different interactions with antibodies in the human blood serum. Meanwhile, cases of dengue increase every year in Delhi as it is a common problem caused due to contamination of water, improper hygiene and cleanliness.
