On 10 March 2023, the Facebook owned Meta Platform Inc. said that they are exploring strategic alternatives for launching a new Twitter-like social networking site.
As per the information the Meta shared in an emailed statement that they are currently working on an alternative strategy for customer and will continue to support the customer’s product throughout the process of the new feature.
The letter further extended with a statement that they believe that there's an opportunity for a separate space where creators can share their timely updates with the people that will be on the decentralized social network and will explore a standalone for sharing text updates.
The application will be based on the same framework in which Power Mastodon, a Twitter-like service that was launched in 2016.
It is not yet clear when the Meta will launch the new app.
