Maximum temperature recorded above 40 degrees Celsius!


On Monday, The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that seven districts in Bihar witnessed heatwave conditions and the temperature is likely to soar in the next two days.

On Tuesday, According to the IMD, the temperature was above 40 degrees Celsius in seven districts and similar conditions have been predicted in parts of the state as well.

A heatwave condition is declared at a place when the normal temperature is above 40 degrees Celsius and the actual temperature continues to be 4.5 notches above normal for two consecutive days.

The districts where the temperature was above the 40 degrees mark were Patna, Gaya, Janui, Sheikhpura, Nawada, Banka and Buxar.

On Monday, The maximum temperature was above 40 degrees Celsius in thirteen places in Bihar which experienced heatwave conditions, the IMD said.

On Monday, Buxar was the hottest place in the state with 42.3 degrees Celsius as the maximum temperature. Bihar's capital Patna recorded a maximum temperature of 41 degrees Celsius, five notches above normal.

The weather agency has predicted a rise in the maximum temperature in the state by two to four notches over the next three days.

The weathermen have predicted light rainfall in a few districts of north Bihar on Tuesday.

On Tuesday, Districts such as West Champaran, East Champaran, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Araria, Supaul and Kishanganj are likely to receive light rainfall.

Amidst the scorching heat in Bihar, many district administrations, including Patna, have decided that the school timings will be changed.

Classes in Bihar will only be conducted during the morning hours. People in Patna and Gaya are worried due to the severe heat.

Therefore, the district administration has decided that all government and private schools will be operated from 6:30 am to 11:30 am only from Monday onwards.

Other districts where it has now been decided to run morning schools include Rohtas, Samastipur, Jamui, Kaimur, Sitamarhi, Purnia, Sheikhpura, Bhojpur, and West Champaran. However, in some areas of Bihar, the weather changed on Saturday and it was cloudy in many districts, due to which the temperature was low in those districts.
