NGT Issues notice to Centre to Ban on firecrackers from November.

The National green tribunal( NGT) on Monday issued a notice to the Ministry of Environment and Forest (MOEF) of State Government on the use of firecrackers to be banned from November 7th to 30th November in the interest of public health and environment.

NGT chairperson Justice A.K Goel replied to ban on crackers in the capital.( MOEF) Ministry of Environment and Forest, Central pollution control board (CPCB), Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC), commissioner of Delhi and governments of Delhi Haryana Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. The NGT has also appointed a senior advocate Raj Panjwani and advocate Shibani Ghosh to assist it as amicus curiae in the matter.This was filed by Santosh Gupta, seeking action against pollution by the use of firecrackers in the capital during the time where the pollution level is unsatisfactory in the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to the statement of the Union Health Minister on the health minister of Delhi, said that during the festive season there will be a rise in covid-19 cases due to air pollution from the past week, air pollution quality has been very deteriorating and it is under" very poor category".

Increase in pollution May affect the vulnerable groups and increase the  covid-19 cases in Delhi and may go up to 15,000 per day and the current cases around  5,000 per day.

According to the plea, "The use of green crackers will not remedy the situation, the smoke will Choak and may create gas chambers like the situation it will lead to poor visibility is condition asphyxia. It may create a pathetic condition and impact badly".
