Nipah Infected Patients Recovered In Kerala

Patients were tested twice…

On Friday, 29 September 2023, State Health Minister Veena George said that four people, including a nine-year-old boy under treatment for Nipah in Kozhikode, have recovered.

Sharing the "good and healthy news", the minister said in a brief statement that they have tested "double negative" (they were tested twice and turned out to be negative).

A total of six people were infected with the virus, and out of them, two patients died.

Of the two deaths, the first person who died on August 30 was found to be the index case, or patient zero, from whom others caught the infection.

Before this, the Kerala government had withdrawn containment in all zones and allied restrictions imposed in the northern district, as no new cases of the Nipah virus have been reported here since September 16, 2023.

However, the district authorities asked people to continue their vigil against the virus infection, maintain social distancing, and ensure the use of masks and sanitizer.

From September 14, All institutions in the district had been closed, and online classes were being held after the virus outbreak was declared in the state on September 12.
