Bihar CM met Rahul Gandhi to discuss ways to unite with the opposition...

On Monday, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar met Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in Delhi and the leaders discussed the current political situation in the country and ways to make the Opposition unite.

"All the Opposition parties should get united. I have no desire and no aspiration to become prime minister of the Nation," the Bihar CM said.

Nitish Kumar is likely to meet AAP chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday.

This was Nitish Kumar's first meeting with Gandhi since his JD(U) snapped ties with the NDA in Bihar and formed a Mahagathbandhan government with the RJD, Congress, and other parties.

The Janata Dal United (JDU) leader is being talked about in political circles as a key face to take on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Kumar is making attempts to bring all opposition parties together as a united force against the BJP for the 2024 Lok Sabha election.

On Tuesday, 06 September 2022, Kumar is likely to meet several opposition leaders including Nationalist Congress Party's (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar, Aam Aadmi Party's Arvind Kejriwal, Communist Party of India (Marxist) CPI(M)'s Sitaram Yechury, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and INLD supremo Om Prakash Chautala.

Meanwhile, the Rashtriya Janata Dal said that the aim of the meeting is to unite the opposition camp for the Common Minimum Program for 2024.

The meetings come amid a buzz that Kumar may emerge as the prime ministerial candidate in 2024 and his efforts are being seen as an attempt to bring all parties together to defeat the BJP in the next Lok Sabha elections.
