No Respite From Heat Wave in Delhi Till June 15

Delay in the monsoon!

The capital city is witnessing an incessant heatwave-like scenario. There's no respite in the heat scenario.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast no respite for Delhiites from the scorching heat till June 15. Cloudy conditions are expected on June 11 in the national capital but there is no chance of rain, said IMD.

IMD wrote, "Heat wave conditions in isolated places are very likely over Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana-Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Telangana & East Madhya Pradesh on June 8 and 9" (sic)

Delhiites experienced a slight respite from the scorching heat on Wednesday due to strong winds. The maximum temperature hovered around 44 degrees Celsius on Wednesday.

The southwest monsoon has also slowed down, with no chance of further progress. As per the IMD, under normal circumstances, the monsoon should have entered Maharashtra via Karnataka, but at present, even half of Karnataka has not come under the ambit of monsoon.

RK Jenamani explains, "At present, no system is being formed from the Arabian Sea that will advance the monsoon in southwest India, but at present, the monsoon is visible in the Bay of Bengal. It's slow at the moment, but if the system builds, it can cover a very large area."

Normally, the monsoon arrives in Delhi on June 29.
