"No time to waste": Biden gets right to work after inauguration

Joe Biden after inauguration

After completion of the most awaited political ceremony, Joe Biden overcame many hurdles in the way to become the president of the United States. The oath taking ceremony was a pleasant vision for Democrats' supporters around the globe. The ceremony witnessed the presence of renowned personalities like 44th President Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, Lady Gaga who recited the National Anthem, Jennifer Lopez and many more. On the day of the event, Washington was on high alert with more than 2500 armed soldiers to maintain law and order after the violent storming of the US Capitol.

Holding the peaceful transition of power on steps of the US Capitol in his first tweet as 46th President of the United States he wrote, "There is no time to waste when it comes to tackling the crises we face. That's why today, I am heading to the Oval Office to get right to work delivering bold action and immediate relief for American families." News agency AFP reported that Biden's transition team said the newly sworn president will authorize 17 orders on Day 1 in his office.

The action plan of the first day revolves around reversal of orders of Trump. Biden will tend to end Trump's ban on visitors from several Muslim dominated countries and terminate the construction of wall being made on US-Mexico borders to prevent illegal immigration, agency said. Biden on eve of his inauguration along with first lady Jill Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris and second gentlemen Doug Emhoff paid homage to 400,000 Americans who lost their lives to terrible pandemic last year and indicated a revised strategy to tackle the pandemic.

Biden will set a mask mandate on federal properties to limit the spread of virus and seek freezes on evictions to protect millions who are behind their mortgages due to deadly pandemic as sources reported. In front of the National Mall, which was empty virtually for security reasons and raging miseries of viruses he vowed, "Democracy is precious but fragile at this point, Democracy has prevailed. We should make efforts to get away with this battle between blue versus red, conservative versus liberal, rural versus urban. This can be only achieved with open minded pursuit rather than a cold shelled heart. If we demonstrate love, compassion and kindness towards fellow beings we can once again know peace. Together let's hope not apprehension, unity not division, light not darkness. Let peace prevail."
