"No Z+ Security Arranged For AAP Chief Kejriwal": Punjab Police

Mr. Khaira slams Govt. for providing Z+ Security

After alleged by Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira on Wednesday of getting Z+ security by the Punjab government arranged for AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal, the Punjab police said a document cited by the legislator is not official.

The Cong. MLA questioned why the state govt. extended the security cover to the Delhi Chief Minister, who already has Z+ security from the centre. He cited a list of protected persons to support his claim. He urged that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann withdraw the security provided to the AAP national convener.

Taking notes from the Punjab Police spokesperson, yet, asserted that the document circulated in a section of the media was not an official one. The spokesperson is a part of a writ petition filed by former deputy chief minister OP Soni in the Punjab and Haryana High court. These attached documents are in no way official documents of Punjab Police, said the spokesperson.

Earlier at a press conference, Khaira made public the purported list of the protected of Punjab said it was submitted in the Punjab and Haryana High Court in connection with a writ petition filed by former deputy CM OP Soni. He claimed that the Punjab government passed off Arvind Kejriwal as AAPs Punjab Convener to extend him the Punjab Police security cover at the cost of the state exchequer.

“CM Kejriwal already enjoyed Z-plus security given by the Centre,” said Khaira while further claiming that Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha had also been provided Z-plus security whereas other MPs had normal security.
