Noida AQI continues to "severe" category

Residents gasps for breath


 The Air Quality Index (AQI) in Uttar Pradesh's Noida is touching a severe category on Monday. The residents woke up with a suffocating environment on Monday. 

According to the system of air quality and weather forecasting and Research (SAFAR), Noida's air quality index (AQI) touched 493 at 10 am. It also said the AQI on Tuesday is likely to deteriorate more as the SAFAR Showed that AQI may touch 538 on Tuesday.


The Air Quality Index between 0 to 50 is considered as good,51 to 100 is satisfactory, 101 to 200 is moderate, 201 to 300 is poor, and 301 to 400 is very poor and  401 to 500 is severe. 


As per the report, the officials said Noida has over 100 First information reports (FIR) lodged and action has been taken against the violators for bursting crackers in Gautam Buddha Nagar. 


According to the statement given by the police media cell in-charge Pankaj Kumar, he said, "As many as 114 FIRs have been lodged during the period and action taken against 141 people for bursting firecrackers in violation to guidelines of the supreme court and the National green tribunal(NGT) as well as those of the  Uttar Pradesh Government to check pollution. " 


The National Capital is also witnessing a severe air quality index. The capital city is completely choked with pollution levels. Not only Delhi, but nearby states including Haryana is also witnessing a deteriorating air quality due to stubble burning and Diwali crackers.
