Noida Hospital Lift Crash Injures Four

Safety concerns arise...

On Thursday afternoon in Noida, a lift at a private hospital descended from the ground floor to the second basement, causing injuries to four people, as reported by the police.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Noida), Hridesh Katheria, confirmed that all four injured individuals are employees of Yatharth Hospital in Sector 110.

According to the police, no formal complaint has been lodged regarding the incident.

Mr. Katheria informed reporters that the service lift, which goes down to level minus two from the ground floor, had dialysis equipment and hospital staff members on board when it malfunctioned and dropped 8 feet, resulting in injuries to the four people inside.

The injured individuals have been identified as Siddhnath (23), Srishti Srivastava (20), Arjun (22), and Sukhdev Singh (28). Fortunately, they are now out of danger, and the hospital has been instructed to ensure they receive appropriate treatment, as stated by Mr. Katheria.

Mr. Katheria mentioned that the hospital has been requested to investigate the cause of the lift malfunction. He also advised relevant authorities to conduct regular lift inspections and implement safety measures to prevent such accidents.

Earlier this year, an elderly woman tragically passed away, possibly due to a heart attack, when a lift malfunctioned within a group housing society in August. In another incident in September, eight construction workers lost their lives when a service lift crashed from the 14th floor at an under-construction society in Greater Noida (West). These incidents highlight the importance of lift safety and maintenance.

Uttar Pradesh lacks laws for lift regulation, despite repeated requests from Noida and Greater Noida residents.
