NOIDA: OLD VEHICLES SEIZE IN 15-DAY

DRIVE STARTING FROM TODAY


From February 1, Wednesday a special 15-day drive to seize petrol vehicles older than 15 years and diesel vehicles will conduct by the Noida traffic police. Vehicles older than 10 years in Gautam Buddha Nagar district.

The Noida traffic police will conduct a drive from February 1-15, to seize petrol vehicles older than 15 years and diesel vehicles older than 10 years, as per the order of the National Green Tribunal (NGT). On Tuesday a meeting was scheduled in which the officials decided what mentioned above, according to the DCP Anil Kumar Yadav.

 

 

In 2014 and 2015 the NGT had issued orders prohibiting such vehicles from paying in Delhi-NCR. Till October 2018 the order was upheld by Supreme Court.

 

According to officials, over 1 lakh vehicles in the district fit the description and notices have been sent to them. The Centre had earlier issued a vehicle scrap page policy, incentivizing the scrapping of old vehicles, in a bid to deal with pollution and promote the use of new vehicles that comply with BS VI norms.

 

 

Some vehicles also belonged to government departments that have to be scrapped, officials said.
