OCI cardholders need to take permission for 'Tabligh, journalistic activities': Home Ministry

The ministry said that anyone who wants to follow such activities will have to take special permission from the Foreign Regional Registration Office (FRRO).


Overseas Citizens of India cardholders will now have to take a special permit if they want to do research, any missionary, Tabligh or any journalistic activities, as per the new rules issued by the Union Home Ministry on Friday. The ministry said that anyone who wants to follow such activities will have to take special permission from the Foreign Regional Registration Office (FRRO). 

The ministry added that overseas Indian citizens who want to take up any work with foreign missions or want to visit any area that has been designated as restricted or protected will need to take permission from the FRRO. The OCI cardholders will also have to inform the FRRO if anyone changes his or her address.
