ON POLLING DAY, DELHI METRO SERVICE BEGIN AT 4 AM

On Sunday, voting for the MCD elections will be held in the national capital, Delhi. Metro service will be begin from 4 am, officials said.

On Friday, in a communication issued, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said Metro services on all lines will start from 4 am of all terminal stations. On frequency of 30 minutes train will run on all lines till 6 am. After 6 am, the trains will continue run as per the normal Sunday timetable, it has informed.

Normally, metro rail services begin little later. The Yellow Line, at HUDA City Centre, for instance, the first trains departs at 5.45 am. Similarly, at Majlis Park on the Pink Line, the first train departs at 5.40 am.

For its upcoming phase-IV corridor, the DMCR has started procuring coaches. The contract has being signed by the metro rail corporation to procure 312 coaches for 52 trains for the phase-IV corridors which are, Majlis Park to Maujpur, Janakpuri West to RK Ashram Marg and Tughlakabad to Delhi Aerocity.

For the extended sections of the Pink and Magenta lines out of the 312 coaches, 234 coaches are being procured and 78 coaches are being procured for the new Silver Line corridor which is from Tughlakabad to Aerocity.

The trains will be compatible for driverless operation, according to a communication from the DMCR, and the coaches will be manufactured at almost India’s facility near Chennai.
