Over 2,500 visited Delhi Zoo after it reopened on Aug 1

The timing of the zoo is from 8 am to 12 pm and 1 pm to 4 pm.


The Delhi zoo reopened on August 1 with Covid-19 protocols in place. Earlier, the zoo had reopened on April 1 after around one year of remaining closed due to Covid-19 pandemic. However, it was soon shut on April 15 citing second wave of Covid-19.

The National Zoological Park has reopened in two shifts. The administration will initially allow around 3,000 visitors to enter the zoo. On Sunday around 2,500 visitors turned up at the zoo after three months of unlocking. The timings remain from 8 am to 12 pm after which it remains shut for the sanitisation process and reopen again from 1 pm to 4 pm. Meanwhile, the zoo remains closed on Friday.

According to the statement, Ramesh Kumar Pandey, Zoo's director said, "The rain could not deter the spirit and enthusiasm of the visitors, especially the young ones. We tried our best to make their visit worthwhile." Adding more he said, "around 2,500 people visited the zoo on Sunday and that the second slot was packed."

As per the information the tickets were available online via the website of the zoo and were also available at the entry gate, people can scan the QR codes at the entry gate and book their tickets for the visit.
