Over 260 Afghan Sikhs in Kabul Gurdwara need help in evacuation, says US Sikh body

Things become challenging for the rescue efforts as there is a 10-kilometer distance between the international airport in Kabul from Gurdwara Karte Parwan which also includes checkpoints.


In Kabul 260 Sikhs have taken shelter at Gurdwara Karte Parwan, and need help in shifting, the US Sikh body said on Sunday. More than 260 Afghan citizens are still left at Gurdwara Karte Parwan in Kabul, women and 50 children which also include three newborn children, United Sikhs adds. Till now, only India has helped in evacuating  Afghan Sikhs after the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan.

According to the United Sikhs statement, people are communicating with governments in the United States, Canada, Pakistan, Australia, New Zealand, Tajikistan, Iran and the United Kingdom including others, also with the International aid agencies and non-governmental organizations to help and support in rescuing efforts.

Surbeer Singh from Jalalabad at the Gurdwara said, people are ready to go to the airport but there is a fear as many of the evacuation flights from the Kabul airport are  being cancelled canceled, as fight as being cancelled they can’t take out the women, children, elderly, and infants from the country. Adding ,if the Taliban capture the whole country  , it will become the end for  of sikh  community.
