On the early morning of 23 January 2023, Pakistan experienced a massive power outage because of a grid failure. Nearly 22 districts of Balochistan including Quetta and many areas of Karachi are without electricity.

A similar outbreak was seen in 2021 at a power plant located in the southern part of Pakistan at Sindh Province due to technical failure that caused due to sudden fall in the frequency of power transmission system from 50 to 0 in less than a second and caused a ripple effect result in shut down of the entire power system in the area.

As per the Geo Tv the different power company confirmed the massive breakdown of electricity before the announcement from the ministry. Apart from Karachi, Lahore also faces issues in many areas.

In Islamabad, approximately 117 power stations are without electricity along with Peshawar at 7:34 am and no specific reason is mentioned about the sudden outage. The Pakistan ministry of energy mentioned that the system maintenance work is under progress.

Imran Rana, the spokesperson of K-Electric posted in his tweet that the team is investigating the issue after the multiple outages from different parts of Pakistan.

According to Quetta Electric Supply Company (QESCO) the two transmission lines break that supply power from Guddu to Quetta.
