RALLIES AGAINST HASINA’S GOVERNMENT


In demand of resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and formation of caretaker government and to conduct general elections, thousands of supporters of Bangladesh’s main opposition party across all cities have rallied.

 

On Wednesday the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and its allies have started protesting in the capital Dhaka and nine other cities. The latest of several demonstrations in recent months amid mounting anger over the rising cost of living.

 

Hasina’s government has criticized by the opposition and rights groups for cracking down on anti-government protests.

 

One of the fastest growing economies in Asia is Bangladesh, Hasina’s government last year impose lengthy power cuts and expand food handouts to the poor, but rising global food and fuel costs linked to the war in Ukraine forced.

 

When supporters of the governing Awami league while brandishing attacked protestors, sticks and hurling Molotov cocktails, in the central city of Saidpur several people were injured.
