Permission Granted For Tractor Rally On Republic Day

On Sunday, the police gave permission to the farmers to hold tractor rally on 26th Jan 2021

Indian farmers have been on a protest since more than two months on the Three Farm Law. They want the Govt. to take back this law. After an urge to the courts and police, finally, farmers received permission to hold the tractor rally in the capital on 26th Jan 2021 i.e. Republic Day. The Delhi Police has however issued a series of restrictions, saying that the permission was granted to show respect to the farmer's demand.

According to the Delhi Police said on Sunday, "Protesting farmers can enter Delhi but can't disturb the Republic Day parade." The tractor rally will now begin after the day's traditional big parade on Rajpath, which terminates at the iconic Red Fort close to noon. According to the farmers, they have received a green signal after the series of meeting. Now, they will conduct a peaceful rally across the capital.

The farmers, the police said, will enter Delhi for few kilometres and exit at the designation spots. However the exact number of  tractors is yet not cinfirmed, the route has been fixed in such the way that it will be protected.Indicating that tight security is provided for the rally, the Delhi Police cleared that their personnel, who are posted for Republic Day parade, can prepare for additional preparation on short notice.

The government has opposed the rally on the Republic Day, terming it as an "embarrassment for the nation". The Supreme Court, however, left the choice to the Delhi Police, saying it was a matter of "law and order". The court had earlier upheld the farmers' constitutional right to carry a peaceful protest.
