Pervez Musharraf Pakistani former President has died on Sunday, after a prolonged illness, at a hospital in Dubai. He was 79, according to military sources. 

Musharraf ruled Pakistan for almost a decade after seizing power in a bloodless coup in 1999, he was a four-star general.

Musharraf was suffering from amyloidosis, which is a rare disease that causes organ damage. He was long bedridden and on wheelchair.

To Musharraf's family Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif offered his condolences on social media. "May the departed soul rest in peace,” he tweeted.

Former general Musharraf's family members were held meeting to discuss whether his body will be brought back to Pakistan. According to sources.
