PLANE CRASH IN NEPAL, CARRYING 72 PASSENGERS

68 PEOPLE HAVE DIED


In Nepal, near Pokhara International Airport a passenger plane has crashed, 68 people died on board.

 

On Sunday it had crashed, 72 people were there on the twin-engine ART 72 aircraft which was operated by Nepal’s Yeti Airlines, according to airline spokesman Sudarshan Bartaula.

 

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal said, from the capital Katmandu the plane was flying, to Pokhara in central Nepal, and urged security personnel and the general public to help with the rescue efforts.

 

At the hillside crash site hundreds of rescue workers were sourcing there.

 

According to its website, the ATR72 is a rapidly used twin-engine turboprop plan manufactured by a joint venture of Airbus and Italy’s Leonardo. Yeti Airlines has a fleet of six ATR72-500 planes.

 

200km (125 miles) the resort of town of Pokhara, Katmandu west of the capital.
