The petition filed by Advocate Pradeep Kumar Yadav cited the right to freedom of speech and expression and sought SC's direction on the Delhi Police to not register FIR against anyone in relation to COVID posters or advertisements and brochures.

A petition has been moved before the Supreme Court seeking cancellation of all the First Information Reports (FIRs) registered by the Delhi Police against those who have been accused of putting up posters criticising Prime Minister Narendra Modi over dealing with the current situation of Covid crisis in the country.

The petition filed by Advocate Pradeep Kumar Yadav cited the right to freedom of speech and expression and sought SC's direction on the Delhi Police to not register FIR against anyone in relation to COVID posters or advertisements and brochures. The plea also sought direction to further stop registering any FIR in this matter.

According to the media reports, around 25 people have been arrested so far and cases have been registered against them at different police stations across Delhi in connection with the case. The posters spotted across Delhi have messages that read, "Modi ji, aapne humare bacchon ki vaccine videsh kyu bhej diya?" (Modi ji, why did you send vaccines meant for our children to foreign countries?

The arrests were made by four different divisions of Delhi Police that are controlled by the Centre. The opposition leaders including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra have criticized the move of arresting people for speaking against the National Vaccination Policy. Rahul Gandhi also tweeted the picture of the poster and wrote, "Arrest me too."
