"PM is set to lay the foundation of Jewar Airport on 25th November", says: Jewar MLA

The Jewar Airport will be the largest in the country, "Bhoomi Pujan" preparations are started.


 Noida: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the Noida International Airport near Delhi on November 25, the local MLA said on Monday.

 

According to the officials, the PM with CM Yogi Aditya Nath and other Uttar Pradesh's MLAs will join to perform the groundbreaking ceremony - "Bhoomi Pujan". 

 

The officials also added that the Noida International Airport is being developed in public-private partnership (PPP) mode and will be the largest airport in India upon completion. The project will be developed in four phases, with the entire project estimated to cost around Rs 30,000 crores.

 

The project is being developed under Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL), a 100 per cent subsidiary of Zurich International Airport AG, the Swiss concessionaire of the project.

 

In a statement, A Jewar MLA said, "Speculation was rife for several months about the Bhoomi pujan for the Noida International Airport. PM Modi's visit to Jewar was expected for a long time but finally, it has been decided for November 25 when the Bhoomi pujan will happen".

 

He added that Jewar Airport is the dream project of the BJP Govt. The inauguration was delayed because of the pandemic. This project will surely change the lives of lakhs of people.

According to officials, the Jewar airport was due to be inaugurated in August but faced delays. Earlier, because of the pandemic, several formalities of the project were also delayed including important meetings with various stakeholders.

 

On Monday, District Magistrate Suhas L Yathiraj, Police Commissioner Alok Singh, Joint Commissioner Love Kumar, YIAPL CEO Christoph Schnellmann, Yamuna Expressway Authority CEO Arun Vir Singh, airport project in charge Shailendra Bhatia, among others held a meeting to discuss arrangements for the programme.
