PM Modi Addresses the nation on Covid-19

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a review meeting and addressed the nation's covid-19 situation as well as the vaccination roll-out in the country. The high-level meeting started this morning at around 11 am.

Amid criticism by opposition ministers over handling of the second wave of Covid by the government, the Prime Minister said that "The pandemic, the worst in 100 years, is testing the world at every step. There is an invisible enemy before us." He also added in his statement that "The pain that citizens have suffered, that many experienced, I am feeling it equally,".

While medical bodies stated that the country has to focus on stepping up vaccination drive, several states have been red-flagging shortage of doses and have even stopped the process of second dose due to same reason. On Thursday, the government said that about 200 crore covid doses are expected, to be available by the end of this year. PM Modi urged that statement "So far, around 18 crore vaccine doses have been given. Government hospitals are giving free shots across the country. So please do get the vaccine when it is your turn,".
